A French au-pair in Denmark finds herself in a dilemma when the kid she is taking care of is being abused by his mother.
Synopsis
Zoé (22) decides to leave her abusing boyfriend behind in France and to go be an au pair in Denmark. She didn’t think the plan through and now finds herself with Emil, a 9-year-old Danish boy. Despite the language barrier and the age difference, the two manage to build a true friendship. Things take a turn when Zoé finds out that Emil himself is being abused by his mother Maria. Zoé decides to confront Maria, only to be kicked out of the house. She doesn’t give up and then tries to take Emil with her back to France, but Emil refuses. Zoé learns that there is a limit to what you can do to help the people you love and eventually finds her way to stay with him.
