George runs away at his 80th birthday party assisted by his 17-year old granddaughter, Emmy, as he has reached the age limit of society.
Synopsis
George is at his 80th birthday, surrounded by family, giving out presents. His granddaughter, Emmy, walks up and they have an awkward encounter that is cut short by the arrival of two government people who start planning his death. George runs out the backdoor; Emmy follows him. They run away from both their family and the government. They meet a group of backpackers in a park and ?nd out about a refugee camp in the South they can go to. They dance and drink and bond. When they exit the park, Marianne tries to stop them but she’s overpowered by the backpackers who arrive to help. Once again George and Emmy run away. Then they hijack a car and drive off? into the sunset. Happy and relieved. But by a turn of events, it turns out the entirety of their escape has been a hallucination caused by a drug the government administered to him upon his death. He dies, smiling, surrounded by family.
