Two guys investigate "serendipity" through personal experiences, consulting experts and travelling without a plan
Synopsis
Louis describes how David Membrey ringing the wrong doorbell in 1986 is the reason he is alive. Janis describes the orgins of serendipity from the "Three Princes of Serendip" fairytale. He explains the definition of Serendipity and how it exists in straying off the known path. He contacts Sylvie Catellin in France to talk about serendipity as a humanistic science. Janis and Louis decide to do an experiment where they throw a dart at a map of Europe and travel where it lands. It lands in Poland and they go there without any plan. In Poland they meet people at the airport who give them a ride into town. One of these is named Alex and she gives them a place to sleep for the night. They walk around Warsaw, find something to eat and try to find serendipity. They find a group of street musicians and talk to them about serendipity. In the evening they go out into town with their new friends and experience the night life of Warsaw. In the night they sum up their day and they wake up to a new day of exploration. On the second day they experience some difficulties with finding serendipity, but are soon on track again, talking to people and stumbling upon new discoveries. In the evening they go out with Alex and other friends they met on their trip. The next morning they go to the airport rich with new experiences and acquaintances. Sylvie describes some of the difficulties that serendipity is facing in modern society, like how we are limited control from our modern devices. Louis decides to call David to talk about Serendipity. He thanks him for ringing the wrong doorbell. Janis and Louis conclude that it is a thrill to think about all the things that could happen next.
